Since the world has gone into an information age, using technology is not unusual anymore and combining technology with education has become a choice for more and more educators. It’s because Internet provides immediate information and also makes the learning methods diverse. However, while the widespread using of the technology in education, some people assert that technology doesn’t always play a positive role. Although there are some benefits, people are tending to consider the negative influence of the technology use in learning. The three big disadvantages that have been presented are interrupting people, letting people be addicted to technology and making people unable to form neural connections. There is an experiment proves that idea, which is asking had half of the class to use Internet-connected laptops while the other half of the class didn’t use their computers (Carr, 2010, para.5). According to the result, the performance of those students who used laptops was worse than the others (Carr, 2010, para.8). Furthermore, in Carr’s “Does the Internet Make You Dumber?” the heavy multitaskers are defined as the people who are not good at multitasking unless they become those “infrequent” multitaskers. Otherwise, everything is distractive (Carr, 2010, para.8). So it is obvious that using technology while learning could affect learning because of the multitasking and shifting software. Besides this, there are also some comparisons confirm the thinking that using technology has a negative influence on learning.
