This in my opinion is a very effective commercial because of Ali Landry. Of course this wouldn't work now but back then when everyone knew her it all made sense as to why doritos decided to use her. The Budweiser ads are also a bit different with Dos Equis taking it a bit farther by making a ethical appeal to their beer. In comparison to the Samuel Adams Summer Ale ad the Dos Equis commercial is very different. In the ad it introduces the beer and then has people explain it flavorful taste. The Samuel Adams ad takes a more logical approach to advertise its beer by making it appealing because more people like the taste. While the Dos Equis ad comes off more confident by not bragging its quality or taste it simply implies it's the most favorable drink of the worlds most interesting man.

The most successful advertisements often blend a series of rhetorical devices to maximize their impact upon their target audience. Ethos is displayed through the prestige of astronauts, pathos is used to elicit feelings of patriotism, nostalgia, and empathy, and logos is conveyed through comparisons of the sports car to a spaceship. The commercial starts by showing several shots of an empty home office.
In Chevy’s Super Bowl commercial first thing viewers see is total destruction and the ruins of a city. Papers blowing everywhere, cars abandoned, fires burning and smoke covering the city. Going forward in the commercial a newspaper is seen with the front headline reading “2012 Mayan Apocalypse, Will world end today?” giving the viewer’s an explanation for the destruction of the city. Next, you see a vehicles headlights turn on and a Chevy truck drive out of the debris. In the truck an average working class man is in the driver’s seat with his pet dog in the back driving around town seeing the destruction of the apocalypse with a Barry Manilow song “Looks like we made it” playing in the background.
Through the use of still life images and narration, Chrysler appeals to the viewers emotions and ethics. The Audi R8 Big Game Commercial, "Commander" talks about an old man who is thinking about his time as an astronaut. He misses it and he just stares at a wall and doesn’t talk to anybody. His son comes with his Audi R8 and he gives the car keys to his dad to drive it. He becomes happy and excited and it makes him relive his time as an astronaut. The commercials purpose was to promote the Audi R8 car.
