This quote resonates with my leadership style because it reminds me of a time when I was involved with a Girl Scout project. The objective of the project was to teach brownie troops and their mothers the essentials skills for camping. This troop had never camped before and were quite inexperience. Some of the basic skills that I taught were how to clear a camp site and pitch a tent. Even though I wasn’t their troop leader, I was given a leadership role, without a title, to provide instruction on basic camping skills. Being prepared is essential aspect of an effective leader. I also used an honest and sincere approach, along with humor, to teach the younger girls. This conveyed trust and they listened to my every word like it was dripping with gold. When I was communicating with the girls about safety, I had all thirty little eyes on me. They were engaged and eager to learn and follow what I said. When I see that my skills as a leader have made a lasting impression on a young child’s life it empowers me to continue to grow and hone my skills as a leader. My leadership style is one that uses my knowledge and my natural ability for people to like me which increases engagement with the topic I am demonstrating. When I present a subject I am knowledgeable about, people follow and listen to my presentation. I am respected among my fellow colleagues and get pleasure from showing anyone how to create or complete a project with my help. I would not consider myself an extrovert and I am not a social butterfly.
