Jeff Redford is the sole owner of Ensign Properties, and has remained a limited liability company (LLC) after previously buying out his business partner. Following the interview, it was evident that this ownership was a good form for his company based on his personality and needs. Mr. Redford does not like having to consult to a business partner, and likes to make decisions to suit his vision. These are some of the most prominent benefits of being the sole owner, which shows it is well suited for his business and contributes to its strength. A limited liability company (LLC) is defined as, “… a form of business ownership that provides limited liability, as in a corporation, but is taxed like a partnership” (). I believe this is very important in Mr. Redford’s business, because this type of ownership better protects his assets and himself from, “potentially devastating law suits and legal actions,” says legalzoom.com (W). Because of the many factors and business concepts that can contribute to strength, it is a great place to thoroughly analyze, especially here because it is successful. Although the type of ownership and the evidence that it functions well to suit the business alone is a major factor that contributes to its strength, there are other well-established areas which also largely contribute. From my experience as an employee, I believe Mr. Redford is an excellent manager. With the scale of his business, I would have expected to see levels of management and distribution of responsibilities accordingly. However, Mr. Redford effectively fulfills the responsibilities of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling almost exclusively. I believe this is only possible because of his unique drive, work ethic, dedication, and well-established vision and goals of the company. Although expanding in the future may require distributing responsibilities to levels of management, it currently seems to be working to his success, again, according to his personality and preference for sole ownership and control. This excellence in management, and his unusually extensive control through managerial responsibilities greatly contributes to strength in his company.
