The organization I will be analyzing is Hansen Mechanical Contractors, Inc. They are located in Las Vegas Nevada and are a large construction company that performs plumbing and mechanical work. Kim Gregory and Russell Karsten started the company back in 1971. In 1981the owners sold the company to Emcor Group, Inc. Emcor Group, Inc. is a large corporation who is a Fortune 500 company (Emcor, 2015). Emcor Group, Inc. has 170 locations across the United States (Emcor, 2015). Their areas of expertise are plumbing, mechanical and electrical. Their companies are responsible for many projects across the United States and including private jobs as well as public works. is the president. He is a well-respected leader primarily because of his leadership practices. First, he is great at connecting with his employees on a personal level. He really goes out of his way to make his employees feel like part of the team. He makes every attempt to greet every employee in the morning and acknowledge him or her. His employees know that he has an open door and if they have any concerns that may come speak to him at any time. He has a luncheon once a month that he attends with his employees and reinforces the team atmosphere. He uses this lunch to reach out to his employees on a personal level. Employees can see the effort and commitment the President has towards the company. The President is the first one to arrive at work in the morning and the last to leave. If he has employees who are working then he is working with them. He is a hands on leader who believes that even though he is at the top of the company it does not mean he just sits back and watches. If his team is working on a current bid for a future job he is right there with them helping and assisting in any way he can. He is a leader who really cares about the future of the company and wants to be a vital part of its success. Lastly, he is a good communicator. He understands that in business, communication is vital to a company’s success. He has department meetings once a week to discuss what employees are working on and to see if they need assistance. At this time he has an open dialogue with his employees on any challenges they may be facing and goes over what they can expect with current and future jobs to come.
