The Start-Up of You by Reid Hoffman and Ben Casnocha began as not only a introduction to the structure of the book and it’s overall goals, but it also began to shape the reader’s mindset on how they should not only go about starting businesses but going about their life in general. The book highlights that entrepreneurship is not just for business people and that opening a business is not for everyone but entrepreneurship is for everyone and should be applied in every aspect of life. The mindset of entrepreneurship involves risk taking, flexibility, adaptability, being competitive and working with limited resources of time, money, and at times support. Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) is a retail and outdoor recreational service corporation. I chose to analyze this company because I enjoy the outdoors and buy products from this store often. Additionally, I was aware of their involvement with the communities in which their stores are located and their emphasis on encouraging activity and appreciation of the outdoors. Lastly, I chose this organization because I have had multiple friends work there for summer or part-time jobs and have been told that it is a great company to work for.
