Erin Wayland was the youngest child of four children, born to a noble family who lived far to the north in the big city of Waterdeep. With many siblings to share the burdens of the family’s lordship, Erin turned his attention to the sciences, engineering, and arcane crafting. He was taught the basics of arcane enchanting by his tutor Dr. Grissom Sharpe, who saw the untapped potential within Erin’s mind. By the time Erin turned 11 he had made a small mechanized rat through the use of science and magic. This invention opened Dr. Sharpe’s eyes to the other innovations that this child could accomplish, and pushed the boy to work even harder. Erin did not mind though, for Dr. Sharpe was almost like another father to the boy. One day, when Erin was 13, his parents told him that Dr. Sharpe had passes away. Angry and upset, Erin stormed off to his workshop, but the room was filled with too many memories of his old mentor. Eventually he made it Saerloon, a bustling port city known for its gothic architecture, peppered throughout with gargoyles and other embellishments, and for its mercantile activity, seasoned by thievery and intrigue. As Erin arrived and started looking for work, he was greeted by a cute blonde headed girl around his age, named Samantha, who agreed to show him around. But the tour ended quickly, when she robbed him of everything.
