Should the drinking age really be lowered? Decreasing the age limit to consume alcohol would create another problem in our society. Drinking at an early age can promote growth problems. Changing the drinking age from 21 to 18 can really affect a high school teen in a negative way. High school teens can face school and social problems like, school absences and lack of participation in youth activities. Alcohol in a teens life is nothing but trouble. Decreasing the age limit for alcohol can cause Emotional problems, Legal problems and Body problems. Alcohol in a teens life can cause many Emotional problems. Although alcohol at an early age can teach a teen to be more responsible. Changing the drinking age from 21 to 18 might have a positive influence on teens, for example, there are many countries that have a lower age limit to drink alcohol. There are countries like Canada, Mexico, and many more that have a drinking age of 18-19 years old. Many people believe that 18 is the age of adulthood so, it is ok for a teen to drink and make their own decisions. People argue that, why is the age limit to buy cigarettes is 18 and to buy alcohol is 21. There are many more deaths that happen with cigarettes then they do with alcohol per year. Lowering the age to 18 would also be good for the economy because, more people could legally buy drinks at bars, restaurants and in stores. Despite the fact alcohol can cause many Legal problems. There are many legal problems like drinking and driving. In 2015, there were 10,265 people dead due to drunk driving crashes in the United States alone.
