According to the Aristotle triangle, Aristotle advocates for the ability to persuade the audience and speaker by employing pathos, ethos, and logos. The ethical appeals are the ethos; emotional appeal is pathos, while the logical appeals are logos. Abortion is a hotly debated issue transverses the world. In the United States, the current political climate alongside the economic recession provide influencing factors precipitating abortion, and this is warranting investigation on the reasons (Lawrence, et al. 2005). Abortion in America is a big issue, with two significant problems causing emotional and political issues. This paper examines the emotional and political issues abortion causes and possible solutions.

Abortion is such a political topic that many candidates talk about it during their campaigns. Candidates are often called pro-life or pro-choice based on their stance on abortion. Some voters will even choice who they vote for based on how a candidate feels about abortion. According to Trump, “Polling shows the majority of Americans oppose public funding for abortion, even those who identify as pro-choice. There is an opportunity for organizations to continue the important work they do in support of women’s health, while not providing abortion services” (Goins-Philips, 2016). A valid solution to the political issues surrounding abortion presented by Donald Trump during his Presidential Campaign is not to support abortion, but to support women’s health prior to pregnancy, specifically in preventing pregnancy. The major non-profit in the United States that has previously received Federal Funding for abortion is Planned Parenthood, and the Federal government provided funding to Planned Parenthood for abortions and women’s health over the past 10 years. Depending on the political climate, funding for abortions to Planned Parenthood has changed. President Trump’s solution to provide funding to support preventing pregnancy balances the political
