Coaches can have intense lifting programs, specific diets for individual players, and repercussions for mistakes on the field. But with all of the focus solely on the game's physical aspect, players will suffer inconsistent results when the time comes. Being physically fit is essential to baseball, but it is not everything. Having a physically and emotionally flexible player with good self-confidence when pitching will often be better than a player with a hot head that is commonly either very good or very bad. A level head of understanding that, in baseball terms, shit happens will give players a better understanding of situations and keep self-confidence high.
