Breastfeeding in public is the practice of breastfeeding babies in the open view of the general public. Although many think this wouldn’t be an issue of 2017, it’s without a doubt a worldwide problem. Allowing public breastfeeding is important in order to promote infant well-being, to allow intimacy and bonding between mother and child, and to ensure mothers will never run short of supplies. Although breastfeeding is highly encouraged, some mothers avoid the act in public. Simply, because they are afraid of the comments made by the public. Studies have shown how breastfeeding is immensely better than formula, for not only the child but the mother. WebMD says “it provides natural antibodies that help your baby resist illnesses, such as ear infections.” When breastfeeding, child do not typically need to be burped, making them less gassy. David said “Childcare experts have long known that the closeness and intimacy of breastfeeding will strengthen maternal affection. Oxytocin, Scientists believe it could be turned into a cure for shyness, and used to treat autism, depression, and anxiety.” Oxytocin, a hormone involved in sex or sexual attraction, promotes a feeling of trust and confidence. Breastfeeding will release this hormone making mothers feel more at ease and content.
