The drinking age today in the US is 21. It was raised in 1984 to reduce drunk driving accidents, memory loss, organ malfunction failure, violent behavior, and alcohol poisoning. It’s known as the National Minimum Drinking Age Act (NMDA), passed by Republican President Ronald Reagan on July 17, 1984. But there are other countries with a low drinking age, the US alone is the only country with a high drinking age, Other countries like Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, Australia and the United Kingdom have a low drinking age. The UK, Europe, Australia, have a drinking age of 18. Others have a slight bit higher drinking age, like 19 or 20. So in that case, other countries give 18 year olds rights as well, like voting. But the US doesn’t want to end up like Europe because they have a really bad teen drinking problem, and the US doesn’t want any more problems we are facing today. Like North Korea, WW3, war against drugs and ISIS, illegal immigration, and mass shootings. But 18 year olds are given a right to fight for their country at age 18 and save the US from terrorist and North Korea. 18 years are of course, given more rights such as taking passengers from place to place, marry, own a gun, donate their organs gamble, buy fireworks and get tattoos. But the one thing they can’t do is drink, because they could end up in jail for under age drinking, suffer from memory loss and possilble organ malfunction, and possibly death. According to my research, this is kinda correct but not fully correct because it takes about 24 shots of alcohol to kill someone and it’s possible if they drive drunk. But drunk drivers are most likely to survive a drunk driving accident, they are unaware about was is about to happen, their timing is slow and they don’t have enough time
