Education means more than just teaching a student to read, write, and dealing with numbers. ICT, such as the Internet, computers and advanced electronic devices are becoming essential in everyday life and have changed the education systems equally. How this new technology is utilized and managed in the school curriculum by teachers will play an important role in widening the resource and knowledge base for all students. In this essay, I will be deliberating on the importance of integrating ICT in school curriculum and how it has enhanced the pedagogy methods. To begin with, ICT stands for information and communication technologies and are defined as a different set of technological tools, devices and resources used to communicate, to create, disseminate, store, and manage information (Steadman, 1998). According to a research on use of ICT in school curriculum “there has been a rise of interest in how computers and the Internet can best be connected to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of education at all levels and in both formal and non formal settings” (Ager, 2000, p. 15) Furthermore, Black and William (1998) below illustrate the importance of ICT integration in school curriculum;

Teachers can use different apps or trusted online resources to enhance the traditional ways of teaching and to keep students more engaged (Koedinger, 1997). The making of lesson plans, grading software and online assessments can help teachers save a lot time. This valuable time can be used for working with students who are facing difficulties in class. Integration of ICT in the school curriculum is also keeping teaching up to par. Example: Professional development for teachers in updating subject content for efficient delivery of lessons improving performance
