Lacrosse is a fast pace sport that is typically played on a grass or turf field. Each team starts the game with 4 attack, 4 defense, 3 midfield, and 1 goalie. The object of the game is to stop the other team from scoring on your goalie and try as hard as you can to score on the other team's goalie. The game has 2 halves each being 25 minutes and the halftime is typically ten minutes. Each team has a total of 2 timeouts per game that the coach can call at any time except within the last 3 minutes of each half. In a high school league there are typically two referees who are making the calls in the game. Although it has a lot of rules and might seem complicated at first, lacrosse is a very fun and face paced sport.

Attacks' job on the field is to get the ball and score on the opposing team's goalie. You have 4 girls who set up and stay on the offensive side of the field. Typically you keep two girls down low and two up high, the girls that go high are supposed to stay towards the restraining line which is a line 20 yards away from the defensive side. A goalies job is to stop the ball when the other team shoots in the goal, now you may not know but a lacrosse ball is about 7 ¾ and 8 inches in circumference and it weighs between 5 and 4 ¼ ounces in weight, It is made with solid vulcanized rubber and they are very hard and dense. It's hard to give an exact speed for how fast the girls shoot because every shot is different and everyone shoots at different speeds, have different sticks, and they shoot from different angles and positions but an average shot coming at the goalie is somewhere in the range from 60-80 miles per hour.
