When I first started college, I approached writing assignments with a bit of hesitation. I struggled with organizing my thoughts, structuring my essays, and conveying my ideas clearly. However, with each new assignment, I saw an opportunity to challenge myself and improve my writing and thinking skills. Looking back now, I realize that writing has been an essential tool for developing my critical thinking and communication skills. Through reflection on my writing process and the feedback that I have received, I have come to recognize the ways in which writing has helped me to develop a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me.

Basically rhetorical reading is just like looking from outside the box instead of just reading all the facts given by the reader, the student can actually have a chance to take out all the claims and figure out the purpose of each one of them and to see how successful they are in supporting the authors intended message. I also liked all the ideas Kantz included in the essay in terms of challenges students face when it comes to writing research papers because as a student I have experienced many of these problems like not finding credible sources, not taking away important information, and also trying to get it all done at …show more content…

Like Discourse I never knew that there were three different categories primary, secondary, and dominant discourse, or even the fact that I would adjust the way I would speak. I mean the only way I would be conscious of the way I speak is when I would switch from Spanish to English. I won’t lie it’s kinda annoying in a good way that I am now more aware of my switching when I switch communities. The other day I was doing laundry and I was having a conversation with my dad and brother when I was speaking directly to my dad I would speak in Spanish but then when they responded to my brother I would switch to English and as I made that transition in my head I was saying what the fuck I just switch my language without even hesitating. Also when I am having a conversation with family and I randomly remember that I have to send an email to a professor I am now more conscious when I suddenly switch from casual to more professional. I also learned that being wrong is okay it’s what makes us human and we should embrace the opportunity to learn and grow from our mistakes. I learned that being wrong is effective because it helps me recognize and accept the possibility of being wrong and that I can engage in a more constructive dialogue and collaborate more effectively with
