The writing process is a very specific to each and every writer. It is what determines how the writer will structure his or her essay. It is the artist who creates the blueprints for you piece of literature. My writing process consists of analyzing the topic, form a mental outline, and then preceding to write the essay while making changes and adjustments along the way.
Topic analysis is the foundation to my writing process; it is the most essential part of it as well. It is where all ideas are formed and all paths are chosen. Once there is a general understanding of the topic, I start pooling all information that has previously been assessed to aid in my discussion about said material.
All in all, a sound topic assessment is key for my writing style and or process to give me the best chance at accurately preparing an essay.
After a sound mental gathering of all information referring to the topic has been accumulated, I then proceed to make a mental outline for my paper. My outline is that of a very simple, basic style. It has often been referred to as a "power outline;" it begins with the main topic as the number "1," then the three main elements of my essay are labeled number "2." Under each of the three main points there will be another three sub- points placed beneath the main point and assigned the numb er'03.'o Any further details that are deemed necessary for my paper will follow the numerical trend as stated before.
Once this is done, there is a great sense of organization which is key for writing a good essay. You are not bumbling around trying to think of what to say next, but simply referring to your outline and collectively filling in the rest of the “watered down” information.
