Why are US citizens rapidly becoming more obese? Approximately 70 percent of US citizens are considered obese or either overweight, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These kinds of health conditions are known to decrease quality of life and are also the prime reason of health care cost in the United states. Inside todays times more and more Americans are being more and more unhealthy every day. Reasoning behind the unhealthy and deadly trend is that the cost of healthy foods are way higher in price than fast food. Information obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics that Obesity rates have doubled in adults and children since the 1970’s. Although the overall rates of obesity have rose they have also declined among groups, obesity is still a high risk problem and it still continues to be the leading public health problem here in the United States. In addition, obesity is a serious problem and is a increasing problem among children, teen’s, and adults. Also there are different problems through obesity that are based on demographics such as race, ethnicity, and gender. More than one third of the adults in the U.S. are considered obese. Rates show that obesity is higher for Black and Hispanic women than White women, and is higher for Black and Hispanic men than White men, also shows that its higher in the south and towards the Midwest, and tends to increase with age.
