One in three adults in America are considered obese, and one in three are overweight as projected by the Body Mass Index, by the US National Institute of Health. This shows that over half of the population in the USA are overweight, and this number constantly grows. You’d think people would pinpoint this as a problem, but the reverse happens and we’re told to accept that it’s normal, and mentioning it is viewed as ‘weight shaming’ and is considered offensive by many people. However, there are very, very many problems caused by obesity. Obesity is a widespread and dangerous problem, and greater measures should be taken to stop it. This is because it stops your ability to function, it largely increases your chance to develop diseases, and it affects the lives of so many people already. One of the worst effects of Obesity is that it stops your ability to function. One reason this is bad for you is it obviously adds weight to your body. This puts more stress on your legs, and you can’t move as far without needing to rest. Furthermore, it puts stress on your body’s skeletal structure, and the extra weight causes your bones to weaken a little bit.
