For most Americans, technology is an indispensable part of both work and personal lives. Numerous advantages of technology include teleworking, which enables people to conduct business from their homes, cafes, and other non-office places. As with all good things, this also has a reasonable share of drawbacks. More than 30% of US knowledge workers reported working from a location other than just their workplace on a workday over the research period, according to the American Time Use Survey, which was used to examine the relationship between daily work locations and travel in the US from 2003 to 2017 (Stiles & Smart, 2020.) Rest assured though as there is no data or research to suggest that Americans would lose their jobs rapidly as a result of technology progressing to the point where people will no longer be required. While distractions are plausible, employees are unlikely to risk losing their jobs because most companies have performance assessments, goals, deadlines, or other methods of evaluating their staff. Furthermore, employers are creating systems and practices to reduce interruptions and enhance the ergonomics of any workplace, whether it is remote, a typical office, or a cubicle area. Increasingly organizations are educating their workforce about the value of ergonomics. Also, they are spending on office products that are more ergonomically sound. In addition to propose that technology will take over most job done by humans is highly unlikely. Lastly, Americans should believe that technological innovation is here more to assist them than to hinder them. “Eighty-six percent of small business owners in the U.S. believe that technology platforms have helped their business survive through COVID-19, and 87% believe technology has helped them grow in challenging conditions.” (New study shows technology platforms critical to small business growth, 2022.)
