Essay On Why Marijuana Should Not Be Legalized

Marijuana is an addictive drug made that is the most commonly used throughout the United States. In some states marijuana may be limited to certain uses such as medical or recreational use according to what state that the drug may be used in. Although, I think that marijuana shouldn’t be legalized because of it’s effects on the human body, what other drugs it can lead to, and the effects it can have on a person's family, friends, and their their social lives. As I stated earlier marijuana can affect the human body negatively. Marijuana is a plant which refers to dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant. This plant carries a mind altering chemical called delta-9- Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which causes the negative effects that marijuana brings. These long term effects include physical and mental effects. The physical long term effects include: breathing problems, increased heart rate, and problems with a child before and after birth. The mental long term effects include temporary hallucinations, paranoia, and worsening effects lead to schizophrenia, yet the studies for this have been mixed. This is what is known as a gateway drug. Marijuana is considered a gateway drug because it can lead to the use of other drugs, such as hash, or hash oil. These are the other stronger, more dangerous forms of marijuana which come in different forms and come with different properties, for example, has has a higher concentration of THC, and hash oil has more is more potent than other forms of marijuana. Marijuana also enters the user's system in different ways. These different ways includes: smoking ( pipe, water vapor, or hand rolled cigarettes ) and through food such as brownies, candy, and even brewed
