It is clearly stated that darkness cannot drive out darkness, but only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that. It’s like fighting things with its opposition, like fire, it cannot be vanish using the same element, you need the opposition of it which is water. It’s like when someone is angry we cannot suppress it by returning the same intensity of anger, in order to calm the situation, we do not need to retaliate the things, we do not need to be incompetence in saying words instead we need to give back the opposite

Why does he used brain in its plural form, with “s”? Brain here doesn’t literally pertain to the human brain with neurons and brain cells, it pertains to the thoughts, idea and opinion the author has. He completes the thought of the sentence on the second clause “but all that I can borrow”, again he is not talking about the literal brain that he can borrow, of course brain isn’t borrowable. What he means here is the thought, opinion or advice that he could ask from others. It is good to ask advice from other people rather than depend on your own. As a human being or as a person, I cannot live by my own, it’s like no man is an island, we need other people to survive. In intellectual or thinking aspect of life, we could decide for our own, having the fact that we have our free will but in order to have and come up with the best choice of decision, sometimes we need other people’s perspective.
