Prior to this time people had to communicate through face to face meetings, written letters or telegraphy. Yet because of this, people had to visit each other or wait a long time for a letter. One change was the invention of the telephone made by Alexander Graham Bell. Furthermore between 1760 to 1840 the development of new methods also instigated the change. This can be seen when people had to use letters or talk face to face before the invention of the telephone.
But comparing communication from the mid 1900’s to now, is mostly to show exactly how technology has advanced. Phones are the most common type of communication used today. It wasn’t as popular as back in the day but letters and telegraphs were still common. Because less people used phones back then, phone numbers were as long as 2-digits. People are more likely to communicate through technology because they do not want to express their feeling and emotion in face to face conversation rather, they are using a cell phone and other social media to express their feelings.
