How will the MBA/MS degree enhance your career plans? Project the kinds of positions you anticipate having five years after earning the degree. What experiences have you had that form the foundation of your goals? An MS in Accounting from the CU Business School will prepare me for a competitive work environment and provide the opportunity to sit for the CPA exam. I was exposed to the benefits of a graduate program and the completing the exam during my internship as an undergraduate. From there I began to understand the amount of educational training and exposure to accounting theory required to prepare and take advantage of the opportunities that follow. This past semester I earned a spot on the Dean’s List for the second time in a row; a goal that kept me motivated and studying thoroughly. Accomplishing that short-term goal makes my long-term goals possible. I was also recently awarded an Accomplished Graduate award from the Community College of Denver as part of my work with their Student Government. I was proud to represent both CU as my current institution and CCD as a place I left better then when I started.

These two recent accomplishments certainly reflect and take part in what I consider my best decision and accomplishment of returning to college. After working professionally for several years after high school, I began to realize I would not move forward in my career without traditional business knowledge; my practical experience would not be enough. The first class I took was in accounting, which now leads me to this application. I am proud to be a non-traditional student because of the many first-hand experiences that led me to discover my passion for finance and accounting.
