Communicating with children and young people has a huge impact on their developing skills so if a child is not being communicated with or has bad communication with their parents such as - shouting, swearing, ignoring, being aggressive, being nasty or mean this can cause the child to have a low self-esteem, not feel valued or loved and also developing poor social, emotional and communication
The main differences between communicating with adults, children or young people is by using language what they can understand or what is age appropriate. Don’t use language unless you know that the body you are speaking to fully understands what you are saying. With children or young people you will have to communicate to them on a level that they understand. Listening to a child when they are communicating back to you. By listening this will make a child feel valued and heard.
Effective communication is the ability to communicate in a way that is quickly and easily understood. They will lack support networks and people to talk to or confide in which may result in them finding themselves drawn into the wrong crowds due to desperation of wanting friends.
It is very important that adults are constantly aware that children and young people will look up to the adults in their lives as they develop in their behaviour, attitudes and values. Adults working with children must keep this in mind and ensure that they demonstrating behaviour that is expected from them. Absolute clarity must be ensured on the standard of behaviour that is expected from students in the classroom and in school and adults working with children and young people must be strongly aware of what the school rules are and what is expected from the children in order for this to be effectively conveyed to the students. In order to contribute a positive relationship it is essential to demonstrate and model an effective communication skill when dealing with children which means that considering both how the practitioner approach other people and responding the children. It is effectively more likely to communicate information to one another if having a positive relationship. Effective communication plays an important role in developing positive relation with children, young people and adults. It is also essential that the practitioner is interested in development of the children by using effective communication skills, building a positive relationship, approaching and responding in appositive manner, making feel comfortable or supporting which it’s required.

When working with children and young people, we need to be aware of the way we behave and express our beliefs as it may have an impact on the children and young people we work with. Every adult will have different attitudes but when working with children and young people, it is important to be aware of what you are saying and how you are acting. Children and young people look up to the adults that work with them, they act as the children’s role models.
3 Explain the main differences between communicating with adults and communicating with children and young people There are differences when communicating with children, as opposed to adults, but we must always remember that we are all individuals. Effective communication involves children being able to understand the language needed to: understand concepts; participate in problem solving and develop ideas and opinions. We need to be able to use language effectively in order to encourage and extend thinking and learning. When communicating with children we need to be clear so they understand what is expected of them, keeping it short and to the point, so they don’t lose interest or concentration.
Alison Gopnik states that children understand the adults needs and try to respond of a different way, many time adults don’t understand what children want to say. After I start to work with young children I realize that they understand more than adults believe because children express different emotions verbal and no verbal when their teacher o parents show different emotions. I remember that one day I was worried because my daughter was sick at home, the day the children were more affective with me and gave me kisses and hugs. I never said anything to them, but I think they could recognize my worried and tried to make me feel better.
By showing an interest in what a child has to say also boosts their confidence and self-worth. This will enable children to want to talk and play with others and lead them to have positive interactions
Furthermore, I believe that one who has quality relationships can develop better communication skills. Without any close relationships, it is my understanding that starting a conversation can be difficult. This does not mean that one who does not have a valuable relationship cannot communicate with others, but rather, it is more comfortable for an individual to communicate with someone close to himself or herself and these skills can be applied to help him or her communicate better with others.
