Making sure the children feel safe and trust the people who are teaching them is important. Making sure you communicate appropriately with children lets them gain the education that they deserve. Understanding any barriers with communication is important so you know how to overcome these barriers so the children and young people can fulfil their well-being. Organisations that work with children and young people all should have a safeguarding procedure to adhere to ensure all children and young people are protected from harm, regardless of age, gender or religion. Schools and other organisations who work with children and young people should have policies and procedures, which should be available for everyone to read and understand. These policies and procedures are in place to help protect the children and young people from harm. They are also there to help protect the adults that are working with them. All organisations that work with children should have specific safeguarding policies and procedures because everyone has a responsibility to keep children and young people safe. The government has guidance and legislations which are regularly updated to protect children from harm. The guidance is there also to give you advice on what you should do if you feel that a child is at risk. But this information should also be within the schoolâ€TMs policies and procedures. Whistleblowing also helps safeguard children. It protects the person who feels the need to report another person they are working with. By having the whistle-blowing procedure put in place, adults shouldnâ€TMt feel threatened by reporting someone as the law is protecting them. Having good communication within the school and other agencies to help support the childâ€TMs well-being helps protect the child if any concern arises. Working with children and young people, understanding how to see the possible signs, symptoms, indicators and behaviours that may cause concern helps protect the children from possible harm and intervening where appropriate.
