The Last Supper - The key message in this passage from Luke 22:7-20 is that Jesus is present in the blessed bread and wine which we receive at church. When Jesus says “do this in memory of me,” we think about the last meal he had. The symbols of the bread and wine represent the body and blood of Jesus given to be shared amongst us in memory of him.

The Crucifixion - The key message in this passage from Luke 23:26-43 is that Jesus died for our sins and that those who act in God’s honor will be rewarded in His paradise, heaven. When Jesus says “truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise,” we learn that death is rewarded with eternal life in paradise. The women of Jerusalem were scared and frightened when they discovered that Jesus was not in the tomb. We read that the women told Jesus’s disciples the tomb was empty but they did not believe at first. These disciples had been in hiding, frightened of what Jesus may do to them.

The Resurrection - The key message in this passage from Luke 24:1-12 is that Jesus died for our sins. Jesus showed us that when we die, we step into a new and richer life that is eternal. When the men says “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, he is risen,” we learn that dying draws us to a new life risen in heaven and that our sins will be forgiven by God.

The Emmaus Story - The key message in this passage from Luke 24:13-35 is that Jesus always keeps his promises. Before Jesus was crucified, he promised to rise again.
