HMS needs to improve their cafeteria. this is because HMS has a serving size same as a first grader 's lunch, and needs more food options in the cafeteria plus food quality. Hms needs a better lunch for the kids and staff. Wouldn 't be nice for the kids to know they can eat some good tasty HMS Food instead of prison food?
Another issue that deeply affects students is the lack of time to eat. All three thousand students are fed at once, but the lunch period only lasts for thirty minutes. By the time students are actually able to sit down with their food, most of the period has already flown by. As one teacher points out: “The line for kids to get their food is very long... They get 10 minutes probably to eat their meals” (Kozol 717).
Did you know that some schools only allow their students 5-10 minutes to eat their lunch? That is basic to me. In the article Should Lunch Be Longer by Mackenzie Carro, it states that school lunches should be longer for mental and emotional reasons. A longer lunch will allow the students to more likely eat their fruits and vegetables. In the article, it states that lunch allows students to socialize with their friends that they don’t get to see often.
From the article “Should lunch be longer?” by Mackenzie Carro, there are many reasons to show why lunch should be extended longer than it already is. One reason is that it helps you recharge for the rest of the day. For example, if lunches are 20 minutes long, it takes you maybe ten minutes to get your lunch and five to find a seat, so you only have five minutes left to eat, which won't give you enough time to take a break from learning. This could affect people's grades.
School Lunch menus need to be changed. Many schools plan on changing their lunch menus. When changing school lunches many students will lose some of their favorite foods. When the schools do finally decide to change the lunches, it needs to be a change for students, they need to be healthier and it needs to be something different for students.
Because students waste to many foods at school at day. 60 percent of fresh vegetables and 40 percent of fresh fruit are being thrown away. By reducing the amount of food wasted and increasing the amount of food wasted and increasing the amount consumed of the courses the beneficial outcome would be improve nutritional intake. When kids are asked how well they like school lunch not surprisingly, American kids, whether pressed for time or just grossed out, leave not much of their meals untouched particularly neglected are fruits and vegetables which they are now forced to put on their trays before they can exit the cafeteria line. The, waste lots of money on food for their schools.
The principal is trying to change school lunch menu's to healthier meals. I strongly believe that this is a good idea to change the lunches because of the following reasons: healthier meals makes kids grow big and strong, it gives you more energy to move around, and it taste delicious. Schools all around should consider changing their lunches for the better of their student. This is for the better of the student to have healthy food. I will go into greater detail in the following paragraphs.
In conclusion schools should not change the lunches because they don't have the power to tell students can or can't eat, they don't have the time and money, and finally because they are not allowed to put a limit on how much a student can eat due to the “No Kid Hungry
Student Declaration of Independence Preamble: When in the course of life events, we are writing this Declaration of Independence to declare that we should be able to have off campus lunch because what we are served at lunch is basically the same thing from the day before. Us as students should have the right to be able to have our own say in this. Declaration: We hold these truths to be obvious that we should get better lunch or be able to go off of campus to get our own food because here at school we get the same food everyday and the food doesn't even taste real.
I strongly believe that the cafeteria menus should be changed in order to have a fair and much healthier lunch. Money may be an issue but there are plenty of ways to solve this world wide problem in the schools. Before there wasn't as much diversity and most people would have agreed to choose from two options what to eat. Now there are vegans, vegetarians, and plenty of allergies that could cause problems for someone
Open periods and open lunches are something almost every underclassmen looks forward to, as only juniors and seniors can benefit from these privileges. This is how T.F. Riggs High School has worked for many years. Open lunch means that students have the ability to leave during their lunch period; an open period means students do not have a class during a certain period and have the option to leave the school during that period. Students can lose their open privileges if they have failing grades at midterm or at the end of the quarter. Underclassmen should have the option to have opens as long as they can keep their grades up.
The lunch tables are never wiped down and students are forced to eat in an unclean environment. • The substitutes are inadequate and disrupt student learning. Substitutes are meant to aid student learning, not hinder it. • The lockers at the school are far too small, not even able to hold the required student textbooks.
They get up, throw the barely-touched food away, and walk to class just as hungry as they were before they sat down. When President Harry Truman signed the National School Lunch Act in 1946, the idea was to establish a program that serves a nutritionally balanced, healthy, energizing meal to the students all across America (USDA, 2016). The National School and Lunch Program has attempted to carry this mission out. However, the solutions that were implemented have become bland and repetitive. Considering that lunch could be the only meal a child eats all day, it shouldn’t be reheated peas and macaroni and cheese every single day.
Stress has become a major issue for high school students. Many students have seven classes, participate in sports, have after school activities, homework, and need to get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Some parents and outside influencers don’t see the benefits of having a longer lunch period for high school students. Students complain about how long school is now but they don 't have enough time outside of school to complete everything they are expected to. While it is understandable that some parents wouldn’t want longer lunches because it could result in safety issues and students having to remain in school 30 minutes longer than the traditional time, longer lunches would give students a chance to complete homework, get help from teachers, and eat a nutritious meal.
Imagine a school that has multiple healthy school food options, that is worth standing in line for. I think that all schools should have a healthy school lunch. It's very important to have nutritious school lunches so that we can be healthy and have energy during the school day. I think we should have better and healthier school menus. Our school menus are very high in cholesterol and saturated fat.
