Should Children Stay in School or be Aloud to Dropout? In Kentucky, by lowering the dropout age to 16, they have been successful with keeping children in school longer. It is better for children to not drop out of school for the following reasons: higher unemployment, lower earnings, and getting a diploma. By staying in school children have a better chance at a more successful life. Dropping out of school is a major problem in the society we live in today.
To begin with, children should not drop out of school because of higher unemployment. In the radio interview “Paul Moran Talks with Missy Remiss on WSCH” it states, “Those without a high school diploma have lower earnings, higher unemployment,

According to “Data Analysis” those who have their diploma earn about 27,380$ a year. Those without a diploma earn about 19,540$ a year. (U.S Department of Education 14). 19,540$ a year is very below average and makes living a struggle. This is another reason why students should not drop out.
To end it all off, is because when you give school a chance you might walk away with a diploma. In the newspaper article “President Pushes State to Raise Dropout Age” President Obama stated “When students do not walk away from their education more of them walk the stage to get their diploma.” (Lewis 13). Students should give school a chance to get their diploma; getting a diploma will help you in the long run with jobs. When you show up to a job without a diploma, they might not want to hire you. This is why you should try giving school a chance.
Understandably, you might have an unstable home life and feel helpless trying to get your diploma. However, there are multiple advantages to staying in school. If you are struggling at home you can always see the school counselor. Getting a diploma is one advantage. According to the U.S Department of Education’s chart “Data Analysis” it states that you earn an average of $27,380 a year with a diploma.
