As humans, we are naturally greedy people. As Americans, we are taught to be self-centered people. We are taught to pick ourselves up by our boot straps and move on. People are rarely taught as a child that helping others was a necessity. Rarely as children are people taught that other cultures and ways of life could benefit my own. Americans have been taught that there way is the best way and if not then get on the highway and get out of our country. Christians believe in a book of love and peace, but turn away the sexually immoral and even refugees. Christians believe in a man who showed even the worst of people love, but they only show a glimpse of that love to their closest friends. Real Christians and followers of Christ show love and acceptance to people of all race, sexuality, religion, and life situation. The poem itself shows the divide between the people of Palestine and Israel. These people have built a wall between themselves in a literal and a social way. The author of the poem shows the audience that the people on both sides of the wall do the same day to day things and that both groups of people are a good and decent people. He also shows that years of hatred and disagreements puts up walls between people. He shows the audience that even though these people are the same and most of them were raised in a society that hated the other group. As Christians, we should be doing something about this issue. Whether its racism, nationalism, or something else, these people are bombing each other and have a large hatred and distrust for each other. As Christians it is our job to do something about these injustices that go on around our world. These problems can be solved with the love of Christ, and if Christians stop turning a blind eye to these issues we could resolve them and spread the kingdom of
