Lindsey Pollak provides suggestions to ease the transition from student to career for the recent, or soon to be college graduate. The lucid writing style she uses in her book provides a sense of comfort to an inevitably stressful period in our lives. Pollak start’s off the chapter encouraging the reader to not worry about the things we have not done, or should have done. It would be easy for me to get caught up on the would’ve, could’ve, should’ve.
During my high school career I have made a consistent effort to stay involved in both my school and community. Through clubs such as Key Club, National Art Honor Society, and National Honor Society I’ve been able to help out locally and globally in an abundance of ways. In Key club and NHS I am able to volunteer in traditional ways, but National Arts Honors Society allows me to contribute to my community and school in a creative way that stimulates people 's minds through art. Due to these activities having a significant impact on my life my future career options are based around what I have learned from them.
Dear Rossier School of Education Faculty, Throughout my education I was not expected to succeed, english being my second language and attending low socioeconomic schools in the city of Santa Ana I was deemed to dropout of school like the majority of children before me. I rarely remember having a student-teacher relationship with an educator throughout my education, and as I succeeded academically my teachers were surprised but nothing more than surprised. Then there were the teachers that made all the difference, teachers that went above and beyond and left an everlasting impact on how I view education, and essentially what made achieving a higher education possible. With the guidance of teachers, instructors and school faculty I was admitted to the University of California Irvine which was not only an accomplishment and a dream of mine but an accomplishment for my family. My journey through education is still the reality of many children attending low socioeconomic schools and/or public schools today, Just like the amazing mentors I had throughout my education, I want to make a difference alongside of them by creating positive and supporting
Initially, my entire high school career, I have worked exceedingly with every activity that I have done. Scholarship is a student's accomplishment in the classroom. It is the motivation to pursue higher-level information acquisition. My actions are guided by this inner urge to reach my ultimate objective. It is this push, which I think of as self-discipline or a powerful motivation, that continues urging me to continue on the path until I make the goal I have set out to do. I came to the realization that having the appropriate mentality was critical in order to attain my full potential on the first day of high school.
I am currently organizing and teaching free weekend workshops at The College of Wooster where I share my professional experiences with students such as photographing artwork, alternative photographic and printmaking processes, and how to create and maintain an online artistic presence through website construction and social media. I also have gained valuable experience as the curator of the student art gallery and supervising the installment of the senior thesis exhibitions. Furthermore, as a graduate student, I assisted in the maintenance of the print studio, mentored international students in the photography studio, administered the undergraduate print organization, and proposed and managed a communal studio print night where undergraduates could come assist me with printing and vice versa. I am committed to the institutions where I teach and I believe in keeping academic course work relevant to contemporary trends in the arts and listening to peers to create

When I read this course theme all my ideas started flowing and I seemed to be getting more interested in the topic because when I think of the arts I truly think it can be visionary and that was just the exact word to describe

It is also a perfect place to learn, to make friends, and to experience the real are world. Career Autobiography There are many things that I feel have led me to year number two of graduate school pursuing a career as a school counselor. For I while I tried to convince myself that a career in school counseling was not for me and ultimately everything led me here. My mother has been a school counselor for the last 25 years and I grew up watching her do something she loved. I went to school everyday and watched my mother make a positive impact on many of my classmates and this left a very lasting impression on me.
