The Goonies “The Goonies” (Spielberg, 1985) shows many attributes to “team” and “group” work and also considering the team is made up of children it is very relevant for my future E.A career. Below, I will demonstrate my theories through what I have learned so far in this course. Four Stages of the group stages/cycle: There are four stages of group development. These are called forming, storming, norming and performing.
All teams that begin to be built are move through a series of stages, beginning when they are formed and ending when they are disbanded. Four distinct phases of team development are identified by Bruce Tuckman: forming, storming, norming, and performing, and each of those has a primary purpose and also a common set of interpersonal dynamics among team members. For a successful team evolution Tuckman proposed that all of those are inevitable and even necessary parts.
In the film “Remember the Titans”, we can see the development of a group from a somewhat dysfunctional group to a highly cohesive one. A group is two or more interacting and interdependent individuals who come together to achieve specific goals. In this case it is winning a state championship. In this film, we clearly observe 4 stages of group development, Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing.
There are many ways in which group dynamics resonate in this film. Group work can foster connections and provide an opportunity /for group members to feel bonded. The Titans football team is a task group; the ultimate role of the group is to have the players come together as one unit. However, there are critical group dynamics that threaten the team’s ability to function properly.
One way of working together is by being unselfish. For example, in “When the Game Stands Tall” a group of football player lose to their selfishness. The coach makes a differance by teaching the players that football is a team sports and they can”t win by themselves. The team then, start to work together and win games. The outcome was
In order to accomplish missions and tasks successfully, teams must be cohesive and unified, as well as meet and exceed the standard. In order to build teams, leaders must develop teams through three stages, formation, enrichment, and sustainment. The first stage, formation, is the stage in which the initial team is built and comes together for the first time. The second stage, enrichment, is the stage in which team members gradually grain trust in themselves, followed by their peers, followed by their leaders. The final stage, sustainment, is where teams are fully invested in their teams, and are proud of their group.
The purpose of group learning and development is to ensure that all learning styles are catered for and the ultimate goal of sharing knowledge is achieved. When using a group to deliver something new each individual can call on a fellow participant to confirm understanding. 1.2 Explain why delivery of learning and development must reflect group dynamics When delivering to a group it is important to consider, what is the normal behaviour within the group? Who plays what role?
I trust if we would have took time to know each other and the qualities each member have, then we could have handle or decision making better. In this case we needed more introverts and less extraversion

The most cohesive group in which I been a part of is a soccer team because we all loved to play the sport. The team was made because at that time several of the players did not have anything to do after school or in the weekend, so we decided to make it. The interesting part of the group is that we all are friends, even though, today we do not see each other because of school and work. But I do miss those times when we all were a team. We were like a family because we would go out to the movies, parties, or just hang out in someones house and make a cookout.
Ultimately, we all did learn to work as a team, but strategizing with your eyes closed, and with such a large group of people proved to be frustrating and

Group decision making is a process where a group of people assemble to analyze problems or tasks, introduce and evaluate alternatives and eventually reach a solution. The chosen solution is no longer attributable to an individual but to the group. Considering group decision making progress, the outcome should benefit the group, not the members. Famous idiom says, “Time is of the essence.” In our days, businesses and organizations are not only obliged to produce high quality of products and services, they also have to adapt to the rapidly changing trends, customer behaviors and market status.
The teams were divided when selecting the person having the knowledge as well as the expertise though lacks charisma together with the leadership capabilities, and an individual having charisma and leadership skills though lacking the extensive knowledge together with expertise. Due to the intergroup conflict between them, the selection process remains unproductive. Due to the nature of the team, work interdependence, perception differences, goal variances and the rising demand for the specialists an intergroup conflict may occur, (Barney & Ouchi, 2015) The individual members of the team mostly perform a role for group conflict initiation.
Most Efficient forms of the learning process: - Acc. to Lewin, learning is best facilitated in an environment where there is dialectic tension and conflict between immediate, concrete experience and analytic detachment. By bringing together the immediate experiences of the trainees and the conceptual models of the staff in an open atmosphere where inputs from each perspective could challenge and stimulate the other, a learning environment occurred with remarkable vitality and creativity. Pillars of an efficient learning mechanism in group settings:- o Feedback:-There was a concern that organizations, groups and relationships generally suffered from a lack of accurate information about what was happening around their performance. Feedback became a key ingredient of T-groups and was found to ‘be most effective when it stemmed from here-and-now observations, when it followed the generating event as closely as possible, and when the recipient checked with other group members to establish its validity and reduce perceptual distortion’ (Yalom 1995: 489). o Unfreezing:-This was taken directly from Kurt Lewin’s change theory.
