1. Why is it important to have a classroom management plan? What are the most important elements that this plan should include?
It is important for teachers to create and implement a classroom management plan so they are prepared to utilize instructional methods that promote learning. The plan also helps teachers minimize disruption in the classroom allowing students the ability to learn. The most important elements that a classroom management plan should include are statement of purpose, rules and expectations, procedures, consequences, and action plan. Another element to consider pertains to having an understanding of cultural influences on behavior.

Name at least four things teachers should keep in mind when delivering positive or negative consequences.
Positive consequences are used to recognize and encourage desired behavior. It is important that the teacher clearly and promptly explains what the student did correctly to reinforce positive behavior. Positive consequences may also be utilized to improve self-managed behavior. Negative consequences are used to decrease undesirable behavior. Negative consequences are useful when applied with positive consequences and presented in a constructive manner which upholds the student’s self-esteem.
4. Ms. Gardner teaches seventh-grade science. For the first time in her career, her room is equipped with several lab stations. Because of this, she plans to have her students perform more hands-on experiments. She is excited by this prospect but also concerned that her students will be disruptive as they go to their lab stations and work in small groups. She is also concerned that her students will get hurt if they are not careful at the lab stations. To alleviate her concerns, help Ms. Gardner:
