Friendship In John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men

I genuinely enjoyed John Steinbeck’s novel, Of Mice and Men; the book was very interesting in many parts and many ways and because of this I will never forget some of the events throughout the story. One of the most interesting things in this story was the friendship between George and Lennie, this friendship was out of the ordinary because in a way George was more of a guardian to Lennie throughout their relationship than a friend. I did not like the fact that Curly was always out to get Lennie. The style of writing and the interesting story made for an easy read that kept my attention. I would recommend this book to other students. One thing I liked about the story was the friendship between George and Lennie, I liked that George would watch over Lennie and try to teach him good from crummy. I also like how in the story George and Lennie travel together and watch out for each other, for example when George thinks that someone is going to hurt George, Lennie instantly gets defensive/protective of George. My good friends and I look out for one another throughout our lives, it is a very good thing to have someone who looks out for you. I also like in the story how when Curly is trying to beat up on Lennie, how George tells Lennie to get him and Lennie is able to crush …show more content…

I know that this is Curly's personality, like they explained in the story, though it is just very saddening to read that the seemingly innocent Lennie is being hurt like this. I have known people that were out to get some of my friends and it is not a good thing, especially when your friend has done nothing to deserve it. Another thing that I don't like about the story is the way that George punishes Lennie for doing crummy things, The way he punishes him in the story time and time again seems very mean, the way George punishes Lennie could be done in a nicer
