Have you ever had a friend that has become like a brother to you? This book Mice of Men written by John Steinbeck is, about two men named George and Lennie’s challenging journey to achieve their dreams. During the Great Depression, it was hard to get jobs but George did; George was hard working and loving to his friends, which shows that even if there are hard times a friend can get you through them. Wherever George was working, he was very determined to reach his dream.
Have you ever met someone whom you felt absolutely safe with, and felt that you can rely on them? Your friendship with that person may seem incomparable to others and can mean a lot. A true friendship can help you feel meaningful to others. In Of Mice And Men, by John Steinbeck, the friendship between George and Lennie shows how much George loves Lennie as a brother by giving him protection, and how Lennie has given George his entire love and companionship.
The comfort of companionship should never be taken for granted. In of Mice and Men George and Lennie travel together in search of work hoping for a bright future together. Throughout of Mice and Men John Steinbeck uses characters to show the importance of companionship. Throughout the book Candy protects his dog, helping show the importance of companionship to him.
One of the ways Steinbeck illustrates the importance of friendship is through the personalities and experiences of the characters. To illustrate, after coming from one of their failed jobs that took place in Weed, Steinbeck’s main characters George and Lennie settle by a river on the way to their next job as migrant farmers. George, as Lennie’s caretaker, scolds him for killing a mouse, and Lennie threatens to run away. George then tries, and succeeds, to reassure Lennie that staying together is best for them: “With us it ain’t like that. We got a future.
My definition of a true friendship is one where you are there for someone no matter what the outcome may be. George and Lennie show three big reasons why they have a true friendship throughout the novel. The first reason is that George is always loyal to Lennie. No matter how much trouble Lennie gets into, George talks to Lennie and eventually forgives him. The second reason is that George never lets Lennie believe that their “American Dream” will never happen.
Friendship is a necessity Loneliness is a condition in which no human being would like to encounter. The shadow it casts over you can be easily lifted with trust and compassion. In John Steinbeck’s spectacular novel Of Mice and Men, he explains how friendship and trust are an important part of every human being’s life, developing this eloquent theme throughout the story through mind boggling characterization and well used literary devices.
In John Steinbeck´s Of Mice and Men, the ideas of companionship and friendship are addressed greatly. George and Lennie are companions who have traveled alongside each other for a long time. They have to keep moving because Lennie causes trouble, and essentially strains their relationship. Although they have issues, they have a deep connection which benefits each of them. Steinbeck´s Of Mice and Men uses motifs and characterization to show that companionship is beneficial to individuals.
The theme of Of Mice and Men is friendship. I choose friendship as the theme of the book Of Mice and Men because Lennie and George always were traveling together and looking out for each other. In my poem, I choose to include the quote “It’s a lot nicer to go around with a guy you know. ”(line 1 of poem pg 18). I think that it relates to the theme because it shows how the two are friends and they care about each.
Friendship is a big and important part of human life. In this story there isn’t a lot of friendship, which is obvious because, in the book Of Mice and Men By: John Steinbeck, the other men were surprised to find out that George and Lennie even traveled together. But George and Lennie’s friendship, as John Steinbeck shows, is valuable, especially to Lennie, to have someone to go to, talk to, and help him out. Having friendship helps us out in many different ways, such as encouraging each other and sacrificing for each other. An example is when George would encourage Lennie to keep out of trouble saying, ”An’ you ain’t gonna do no bad things like you done in Weed, neither.”
Friends are a gift especially true friends. They do many things to benefit each other. The friendship throughout this paper is based on the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. There are two men in the novella named George Milton and Lennie Small. They have the best of friendship.
“Of Mice and Men” has many good acts of friendship. One good example of this friendship is Lennie and George. They are more than just travel partners. Lennie relies of George, Lennie does not think before he acted. He is very impulsive and does what he feels.
