You may think that Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Halsey are just artist and nothing more, but little do you know that they are feminist as well. Using their influential voices to inspire everyone especially young girls to take a stand for gender equality. There are many issues that make a feminist necessary such as making females feel inferior to males, wage gap, and a double standard. Feminism is significant in women and men’s lives because it creates equality with both genders. We need feminism to change the way society views women, making them feel inferior to men. Women do about two thirds of agricultural and get no recognition or reward if they only own one percent of the entire world’s goods. Farming is an asset to the world that most women do and only have one percent of ownership. Another example that makes women feel less is being judge for your gender instead of what you are capable of. According to the text, “Excerpt From We Should All Be Feminist” by Chimamanda Adichie it says, “The sad truth of the matter is that when it comes to appearance, we start off with men as the standard, as the norm. A female could have the same exact job as a male and he would still get paid more than the female. Feminism would have a powerful portrayal in the wage gap, not only does it affect women, but men too. It has been proven men of different race also take part in the gap. It does not just equalizing the pay check for women but for everyone. Women all over the world will finally get the credit that men get as well. Women will finally get the same paycheck as male do with the same job. There is no reason for a woman to be treated differently than a man with the equivalent job because there is no difference between them, business wise besides their gender. It states in, “Here’s What That ’78 Cents to a Man’s Dollar’ Wage Gap Statistic Really Means” by Carmen Rios “for the first time since about 2004, the wage gap budged in 2013, from 77% to 78…We made a cent!” this demonstrates after nine years of fighting women get an increase by 1%, this is because women aren’t viewed as practically as men. In the article, “The Simple Truth About The Gender Pay Wage” it says, “Because non-Hispanic white men are the largest demographic group in the labor force, they are often used for that purpose.” This reveals that not only does feminism effect women, but men too because many think that feminism works only in favor of women. With feminism, there will be no wage gap between men and women of any race who have the same exact job.
