“Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness” is what the constitution states is given to every human by their creator. In today’s society, there are many Americans who are not pleased with the government. The government was created to protect these “inalienable rights” to every American citizen. In the article, “Gay Marriage. Why it Should be Legalized,” Allie Jo argues that same-sex marriage should be legalized. She believes that it violates their freedoms. I agree with Allie that same-sex marriage should be legalized because it is unconstitutional to interfere with someone’s happiness. In the article, Jo begins by asking the readers, “Why should other people be able to choose who marries who?” She argues that when a man and a woman get married, it is not a problem, but when a man and a man want to get married, it causes an uproar. She believes that it does not matter if somebody else wants to get married because that is somebody else’s life. If they are not a part of their life, then why is it causing a problem? I agree with Jo that it is nobody’s business what another homo sapien is doing with their life. The 1st amendment of the Constitution states that a person’s religious beliefs shall be protected. Legislators cannot discriminate against any type of marriages of the minority party, which homosexual people fall into that specific category. She points out that there is another amendment that separates church from state, which nobody can declare that marriage is a blessing from God. I agree with Jo’s point about the 1st amendment.
