Genesis is the title given to the first book of Moses by its Greek interpreters. The word Genesis signifies "source" or "starting"; and Genesis really is a book of inceptions, or beginnings. Genesis portrays the start of man and the universe which he lives in and has been given territory over, the start of sin, the start of God's arrangement of recovery, and the start of the Hebrew country through whom God's reclamation through the Messiah was to come.

The Story of Isaac ( 25: 19-26; 35)
