Realization hit me one middle school afternoon when my mind briefly merged on to the road of my future. Interestingly, I found myself consumed by my growing passion for mathematics. Confidence flowed within me as I was regularly challenged to assist with math and science initiatives. I recall my teachers commenting on the excellent academic programs at the University of Michigan. One even suggested that I exhibited the drive and ability comparable to the students of Michigan. Although young, those goal defining statements ignited hope and fueled my journey forward.
Upon entering high school, I continued my focus on mathematics while expanding my interests in computers and statistics. Driven to lead, I was nominated to Student Council and voted Treasurer. I learned the importance of mathematics in finance and accounting and its critical role in our global economy’s success. As a freshman, I became active in Business Professionals of America, learning the importance of statistical data and computer application design in business. The expansive history and tradition radiated off of every proud student. Exploring my options of study, I found the college of Literature, Science and the Arts incredibly attractive. The hands on practical learning approach offered exactly what I had been looking for, along with the varying degrees focused on mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Additionally, diversity is a must as I explore my educational opportunities, and LSA gives me the ability to gain a world-class education in an academic setting as diversified as me.
