Mission statements are an important part of business. They communicate a company’s purpose, and who they want to be in their industry. Grant Thornton is a global audit, tax and advisory firm. According to Grant Thornton’s (n.d) website, their mission statement is “To make a difference to our colleagues, our clients, our profession and our communities.” (Mission, Vision, Values, para. 1). Analysis of their website details how they make a difference to those they serve. Grant Thornton’s long standing presence in the industry is proof that they have grown and changed over time. Since their inception in 1924, the industry has undergone several ebbs and flows, including the Great Depression, the Securities Exchange Act and overall globalization of the industry.
