In addition, certain problems has been making the Everglades worse. Sugar cane crops grow and thrive in the Everglades. Sugarcane is taking up lots of land and its also taking up land for animals to live. In “Can We Fix the Water Supply?”
My 8th grade class went to the Conodoguinet creek to test if there was any pollution in the creek water. Before we went my hypothesis was, “If we go to the Conodoguinet creek and test the water, then the creek will have little to any pollution in it because we haven’t had a monstrous storm in the past few months so there wouldn’t be an excessive amount of acid rainfall or runoff” There are three types of macroinvertebrates ( an invertebrate fauna - animal of a particular region - that can be captured by a soo - which is a certain net or sieve - ) that we were looking for, Group 1 ( which is pollution sensitive - they cannot have any pollution- ), Group 2 ( which is somewhat pollution tolerant - they can live with some pollution-) and Group
A subtropical wilderness with grass marshes, forests thick with trees hundreds of years old and hardwood hammocks (trees that only grow a few inches tall but packed very close together but can take up acres). Seems like a place to protect. Ever since the 1900 draining of the everglades, the ecosystem has shrunk by 50%. People did not see how important the Florida everglades where. The effect of the polluted water in the everglades is causing problems for both people and the inhabitants of the everglades.
Pinellas County Grease Management- The Pinellas County Grease Management Program (GMP) is responsible for providing regulation governing grease waste generators and grease waste haulers in order to mange grease generated within the county in an environmentally sound manner. The program utilizes the LINKO FOG Tracker data system to permit and monitor grease waste generators, grease waste haulers and to track all associated fees governing all regulated activities. Since the inception of the GMP, Pinellas County Utilities has only had two sewer system overflows directly related to a Food Service Establishments (FSE). With the established partnership with maintenance crews and lift station crews, the GMP seeks out areas of concern and works with the FSE and the grease haulers to proactively address concerns of excess grease in the system.
When comparing and contrast the Petaluma watershed and the Monroe County watershed three important aspects are pollution, location, and uses. Pollution is very harmful to nature and can damage the health of a watershed. The Petaluma watersheds aren’t the healthiest compared to the Monroe County watershed, because even though many people try to protect it a lot of people throw trash into the watershed. The Monroe County watershed goes through everglades and protected park and people keep it clean. These things happen, because
The local government needs to be involved with formulating a solution because they are in charge of making sure everything in the city is kept clean and safe. The algae growing in the water is not keeping the city clean and safe. The state government needs to be involved with this problem because they are in charge of providing public safety. As the algae continues to grow in Lake Erie, it’s making the water unsafe and undrinkable for the people living in places surrounding Lake Erie. The federal government does not necessarily have to be involved with this problem because a problem like this is usually left with state and local to deal with, but the federal government can provide the funds to help get rid of this
Effects of Red Tides on Ecosystems Background Info: Harmful algal blooms, or more commonly known as red tides, occur when a dinoflagellate colony grows out of proportion. Dinoflagellates are a type of algae and protist responsible for releasing a chemical that acts as a neurotoxin (called brevetoxins) in many organisms. This results in neurological effects in animals, birds, and other marine life. Red tides are not considered a new phenomenon, as they were first documented in the 1700s in the Gulf of Mexico, and in the 1840s in Florida’s Gulf Coast. These blooms have occurred throughout the U.S. and Mexico Gulf Coasts and the Atlantic Coast to North Carolina, although they are most prevalent along the south-west Florida Coast.
Finally, many of our wetlands are in the process or have already been destroyed by us with all of the plastic that we throw onto our local streets. According to Jacques Cousteau in his article “The Bounty of the Sea” he explains that the surface of the ocean has a thick film of decayed matter on it. Many people aren’t going to think about this, but if the ocean has a film on top of the water the water isn’t going to be able to reach the skies through evaporations resulting in global drought resulting in many more problems. Cousteau says “Certain reefs that teemed with fish only ten years ago are now almost lifeless. The ocean bottom has been raped by trawlers.”
Water Pollution Since Cuba is a primary tourist state with many industries , it creates tons of waste annually. In a year, roughly about 113.5 gallons of seawater are subject to the dumping of agricultural, industrial, and urban waste. Furthermore, 864 gallons of water in lakes and rivers throughout the country is also contaminated. A large part of the contamination comes from the ground after plants and trees have been soaked in fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides.
Pennsylvania Roadside Waste Disposal Management Solutions to Protect Waterways, Human Health and Environment Living in a developed or developing country tends to make people unaware of all the waste that is created in that country. As many states may have this problem, Pennsylvania has been having the issue of waste being dumped on roadsides and near waterways for years. The waste that accumulates is harmful not only to the land, but also the rivers, streams, and lakes. This policy brief describes how the Pennsylvania State government can take action and lessen the effects of waste disposal. Providing a designated area(s) for waste disposal, encouraging recycling, and providing public awareness will have an impact on land and water pollution in the state.

Environmental Quality is when a set of properties and characteristics of the environment outstand to Humans and other organisms. It is well looked after either by the Government or your city Council. These aspects are found when a pound/lake is very clean with no litter in it. This also includes any Pollution, Climate of these city’s/states and Green spaces. If all these aspects are in that particular city or state it will catch the Human eye and will standout of anywhere else.
“ Natural gas industry has been identified as a major source of water pollution “ ( source 1 ). This quote from source 1 explains how out of all the ways of polluting the oceans, oil is always one of the worst. “ 8 million metric tons of plastic trash enters the sea from land every year “ ( source 4 ). This quote from source number 4 explains how every year tons and tons of plastic from land, gets into the oceans and continues to pollute. Garbage is polluting the oceans so much that the water is getting so bad, people are getting ill from drinking
