HR Personal Statement

As the spring semester of my junior year at Loyola’s Quinlan School of Business comes to a closing, I’d like to take some time to reflect on how this course has motivated me thus far to not only learn about myself, but also determine what it is that I look for in a company as I approach graduation next spring.
Through working with my peers on a one on one basis in class, as well as presenting on the career of my choice and attending various career events on campus throughout the semester I have come to make a clear distinction between employers I’d enjoy working for and those I wouldn’t. I’ve also implemented my passion for helping others into the overall purpose of the work I’d want to be doing post-graduation. As a student worker at Loyola’s Institute of Pastoral Studies I have gained a lot of hands on experience with hiring, training, other things related to the department. Though I have yet to find an HR internship that will primarily focus on HR related issues, I know I’m applicable enough to apply for an HR position given the experience I’ve acquired these past three years. Some of the strengths and value that I can provide an employer with are self-direction, time management, great interpersonal skills, flexibility and adaptability as well as the ability to mentor new employees. I try my best to implement these characteristics of mine wherever I go, whether that be a career fair, an internship, or a part time job. I do this because I now realize that your image will follow you throughout different stages of your career, and creating a positive image for yourself is essential when trying to move up in a company or in your career
