COMMUNICATION
My second theme of reflective essay is very important issue to me because of my future prospect as an HR professional. Before I started my course at De Monfort University, I never considered what an effective communication means and the advantages it bears.
My prior knowledge of communication was limited only on ordinary conversation and I would find it so difficult to substantiate or hold a long meeting. I remembered in classroom when we were doing Leading, Managing and Developing People with our tutor, Julia, she asked a question about how HR could add value to private sector. I responded, but when she asked me to explain further, I could not because I knew that I would engage in a long discussion and the only way I could hide my problem was not to elaborate the answer I gave. I have always found myself nervous anytime I wanted to make a speech for a group of people and engaging in a long discussion with people.
I identified my problem lied on the expressive communication and this would be harmful to me on my pursuit to HR professional. I understood that my power as an HR professional remains on my ability to coordinate the verbal and written words in order to obtain credibility and conviction.
