High School Mission Statement

Now having surpassed the halfway point of my senior year, I begin to reflect on the time I have spent in high school. Essentially, the entirety of the high school experience is a transition period, one in which an individual begins to identify their values and passions. Now, as it comes time for me to select an institution that will house my ideas and those of hundreds other’s, I have determined that the best fit will be a school that coincides with my core ideas and practices the values that I hold closest to me. I believe that FIT is that place.
When considering schools, I initially refer to the mission statement. However, as my exposure to media increased in middle school, I found myself taking an interest in the way people dressed, specifically individual sense of style and the translation of concepts in fashion across different people and personalities. It was at this point where I religiously tracked quirky fashion blogs while clad in penny earrings and fork bracelets I had fashioned with an old pair of pliers. From then on, the art of self-presentation became a hobby, as I carefully curated outfits that were meant to present a different aspect of myself on the daily. Once surpassing that not-so-brief “found jewelry” phase, I was left with a love for using clothing to express myself and the different sides of my persona. As I have grown older I have refined that aspect of my interests and developed a passion for creating the clothing that people can then use to express
