Technology plays a critical role in the daily operation of a business and contributes to the overall success of a company. Therefore, to improve business operations, the latest technology and well function systems must be utilized to achieve and maintain competitive advantage. Therefore, the company handles many different currencies such as British pound, US dollar, Euro just to name a few. As a result, UPS is highly exposed to significant components associated with exchange rate risks, which incorporates the business ventures in foreign subsidiaries and assets and debts emerging from business transactions in oversea currencies (Murray, 2016). In order to reduce these risks, UPS has taken the necessary precautions to engage in foreign exchange hedging exercises by infiltrating into foreign exchange contracts. Once the present position is determined, the company can set goals to where it needs to be. The SWOT analysis allows UPS to focus and profit on its strengths that is most important to its customers, strong global network, high tech technology systems, excellent customer service and guaranteed and time-definite deliveries. Besides the company’s strengths, the SWOT analysis identifies opportunities that UPS can capitalize on and invest in to achieve more financial success such as: positive outlook of global airfreight sector could boost up revenues and market share, strategy acquisitions and online shopping. However, the weaknesses and threats discussed above must be addressed immediately so it will not adversely affect the company performance. Therefore, UPS must include and make awareness to employees by presenting the findings of the analysis, educate and obtain further input for future goals based upon the SWOT analysis results. Thus, allowing employees to recognize and maintain strengths, expand on business opportunities and reduce weaknesses and threats.
