I intend to provide a safe, supportive environment that embraces equity and inclusiveness. My school will honor diversity; it will be non-punitive and non-threatening. I believe we must teach children to feel, think, and act with respect for themselves and others. Teaching must encourage a spirit of inquiry and life-long learning. I will attempt to model my own love of learning and openness to new ideas, while being a firm presence in the classroom and school, with a strong sense of purpose. I will attempt to build confidence within my students and staff by focusing on improvements, building on strengths and acknowledging abilities. I will let children make choices and, while experimenting, they will have the opportunity to make discoveries about themselves.
