Within the society we live in today, the market for Food Safety states that approximately 75% of our processed food from the market contains some sort of genetically modified ingredient. People have different views on the situation of genetically modified crops, thus through reading one will experience the situation from both sides of the situation. One may view genetically modified crops as a beneficial thing to our society because it helps stop mass starvation, allows us to need less farmers, and helps the economy. It helps stop mass starvation because genetically modified crops actually can be engineered to grow faster than at a normal pace, also allowing it to grow bigger. Genetically modified crops also reduce the needs of pesticides, which allow crops to grow more naturally, and actually are beneficial to our health. Foods that are produced genetically also help in our nutrients; it increases our nutrients because we can implant such nutrients we desire into our crops and have a better taste to such, but ultimately keeps our sustainability of our food supply. However people also view genetically modified crops harmful to our society because genetically modified crops are unhealthy, detrimental to our environment, and there is a link between genetically modified crops to disease that people are born at birth with such as Autism, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s’ disease. Recent studies have shown that genetically modified crops closely relate to the alteration of genes increasing the chance of obtaining a disease or symptom.
