Adolescent minds are the most intelligent kind of mind. A young brain is filled with creativity, imagination and innocence. Though the thought process of a teen is assumed to be selfish there are other factors involved. A combination of these characteristics seems almost dangerous. One would undermine a juvenile to use these qualities to manipulate the court for their own selfish wishes or pleasures.

Elizabeth, a woman who is loyal and true, or manipulative and ruthless liar, Abigail. She pretends to see spirits and commands the other girls to pretend as well.
Abigail Williams is quite the devious character portrayed in The Crucible by Arthur Miller. She is seen doing wrong things and committing crimes, whether intentional or not, throughout the entire play. One crime she is guilty of throughout the play is murder in the second degree. According to Justia, Murder in the second degree is defined as an intentional killing that was not premeditated (Justia). Abigail’s careless accusations, and many other people inspired by her, of many people committing witchcraft sends them to jail in which ultimately they are hanged.
Abigail Williams is a 17 year-old orphan who is currently living her uncle, Reverend Samuel Parris and his daughter and also her cousin Elizabeth Parris also known as Betty. In the play, it is revealed that she has been dancing in the woods with girls of Salem and performing voodoo with her uncle’s slave, Tituba. Dancing is a very big sin in Salem, dancing is one of the signs of witchcraft so when rumors of witchcraft begin to circulate through the town Abigail and Betty start naming people as witches in order to divert suspicion from themselves.
The Crucible While Abigail Williams is not completely responsible for the hysteria and death in the Salem Witch Trials, she is one of the main contributing factors for the historical event in the 1690’s. In the novel “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller Abigail Williams is vengeful, selfish, manipulative, and a liar that uses these things for her self-interest. Her actions cause innocent people to be executed for her personal gain. Abigail never seems to care for any of the villagers in Salem except John Proctor, a married man she had an affair with several months before the events of the play. Abigail used to work for john Proctor and his wife Elizabeth, until Elizabeth found out about the affair between john and Abigail.
The Salem Witch Trials were a terrible time. Many innocent people were killed because they were suspected of using witchcraft. While many focus on the horror of the witch hunt, some look to the people who conducted the hunts to find out why this happened and who is to blame. Abigail Williams is to blame for the deaths of all the innocent people in the Salem Witch Trials because she pretended to see the devil in people just so she could have one person dead.

The characters of Abigail and Elizabeth differ in the value of the truth, over all demeanor, and what they do to save the ones they love.

In the play, The Crucible, Abigail Williams and a group of girls danced and conjured spirits in the woods and began the hysteria of witchcraft in Salem. As the story unfolds, Abigail starts out as a troublemaker and gets caught in the woods. She lies to her uncle and tries to save herself but gets caught and fesses up. She is also obsessed with John Proctor, who is trying to push her away after an affair. Abigail was most responsible for witchcraft in Salem and should be held responsible for the imprisonment and execution of innocent people because she lied to all of the townspeople first and had an affair with John Proctor.

Therefore, Abigail Williams is completely at fault for the commencement of the witch hysteria that ruins the lives of many innocent individuals.
In this paper I will argue that Abigail Williams is not a trustworthy person. Abigail is an orphan she has constant to feel important and wanted.she was involved in an affair with John Proctor .She hates his wife because she spreads rumors about her. Abigail begins to show me her true character through the scene describing her dancing in the woods. While they were in the woods Abigail was setting a spell on John Proctor's wife.
In The Crucible, Arthur Miller utilizes the main antagonist, Abigail Williams, to further emphasize the physiological theme that one will go to great measures to preserve the way others perceive them. He writes her into the story as a crazy teenage girl who is hungry for trouble, which allows him to eventually display how even though the village did not show it in the beginning, the people were just as corrupt. Miller begins to uncover this truth when Abigail is caught dancing in the woods by her uncle, Parris. Instead of confessing that she was dancing for the devil she instead tells her uncle that “[they] did dance,” (Miller.1.1.12) but she informs him that “[they] never conjured spirits'' (1.1.21).
Power is determined by many factors in the town of Salem. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, one’s gender factors into the amount of power that one has. For males, land and money are the two main ways to gain power. For a female, being married to a man of wealth increases power exponentially. A clean reputation leads to more power, because the person’s name is not being demolished in society.
