Human trafficking is the illegal trade and exchange of humans for laborious or compromising tasks, usually for sexual exploitation or agricultural work. This prime example of illegal trade is considered to be synonymous to modern-day slavery. Furthermore, it has been described as a business where basic human rights and liberties are revoked. Individuals have no choice as to what work they will perform and receive no compensation as a result of immediately being placed into debt-bondage; this entails having to ‘pay off’ their forced living and travel expenses.
