Louise Gledhill -10583882 The Essay will assess my ability to undertake research, compare and contrast selected material and present a clear academic discussion and evaluation of my own performance. This assignment is my reflection on our group presentation. The purpose of this essay is to evaluate my own participation and critically reflect on my self-awareness while working in the group, as well as the other group members. I will be examining how we worked as a group and how I dealt with any issues that arose. Incidental Groups- Where people are brought together for a very short period of time, with minimal involvement and commitment. 2. Membership Groups-Typically lasts some time (weeks, months or years) the members have a commitment to the group’s common goals and values. 3. Identity-reference groups- Belonging to the group involves identification with the group and where affiliation acts as a reference frame for a person to know who they are. According to the breakdown of the 3 main meanings of the term group it’s apparent that we formed a membership group, as we all had to interact with one another to carry out a task to achieve our goals Process When It was announced that we would be split into groups formed by our tutors and given the names of each student we would be working alongside with, this automatically sent me into a state of panic. The students whom I had be given the group with were unfamiliar to me as I had not really engaged in conversation with them before and I instantly worried that I wouldn’t be in somewhat way accepted. Our group consisted of 6 members unfortunately when we first had to sit within the group only 3 of us were there.
