Carolyn, You did a wonderful job with your description of the chief financial officer’s (CFO’s) responsibilities. Surprisingly enough, as the infection control practitioner, I have worked very closely with the chief financial officer at my organization. He is respected as the leader responsible for the organization’s financial status, but his role has broadened well beyond that capacity (Finkler, Jones & Kovner, 2013). Our CFO understands the importance of accreditation, and while we prepared for our annual DNV survey, he led the charge for improved facilities. He held meetings weekly with the facilities manager, environmental services manager and the infection control practitioner. He expected status updates and wanted to know what projects
